Personal Highlights: In one peek, WITHOUT DOUBT, I knew I was about to read a page-turner…in the best possible way. I mean, it’s only January, and the first book I’ve read this year, and already projecting this one will be among my top 10 favorites!!! Only wished my radar had picked up on it sooner.

The prologue is beautiful. STORYTELLING INCREDIBLE. And given Mrs. Simpson's career began in the 60's creates content that is both historical and relevant. I thought about my father a lot as she described her view of the South when she first got there. She’s a good girl…worked hard, and achieved much, despite many initially not understanding why she wanted to pursue ‘that journalism thing’, asking questions like, “do you know any ‘colored’ reporters?”

There is just so much in here. Again, the storytelling is rich, in quantity and quality. How she met Dr. King, Respect! The trip to South Africa, moving. But not more moving than the Max Robinson narrative and her motivation for pursuing journalism. There are many takeaways, far more than listed at the back of the book. For one, it's nice to be the first (you pick the attribute), but an over the top takeaway to be first solving some of the societal problems cited. A MUST. Highly recommended. Read soft-copy 2012/2023 copyright edition.
