Will by Will Smith
Writing Style: Cathartic. Straightforward.
Pacing: Fast.
Personal Highlights: Totally did not expect the overall deep dive Will revealed of himself. That’s for starters. It reached the point where no matter how I felt about (for instance) incidents such as the Monopoly game he played with his wife and children, or the Gigi/Jada prank, I had to respect his raw personality. In short, his honesty won me over.
Pleasant favorites; his deep relationship with his father and learning about his early education, and thus ‘the birth of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince’. And oh my goodness, them Sergio velour sweat-suits! I was so tickled. Really brought back memories… like "Summertime". The description of JL’s ‘alchemy’ I must emphasize!!! Everything in life does seem to have a place and purpose. On and on Will’s personality shines through his memories, which on top is his drive and devotion to his career. YES SIR!!! Everything comes second to the dream!
All that and most memorable and touching were the insecurities he lay bare… and the making of the Ali movie. Indeed this was where I shed real tears! The bungee jumping was the icing on this cake. What a sweet landing. Loved it. Highly recommended. Read LARGE PRINT Library edition copyright 2021.
