You Carried Me by Melissa Ohden

Synopsis: Personal testimony about abortion and adoption.

Writing Style: Clear. Emotional, but Organized.

Pacing: Fast.

Personal Highlights: This is a deeply personal account. Reminds me of so many other unique stories where decisions are made without the ability to consider the possible outcomes, as Melissa attests to, and even encounters through her work with Social Services programs.

In the opening of Melissa's initial testimony I actually imagined many children craving to grow up in the warm, nurturing environment she experienced early on. Loved her childhood memories, and the way she (and her family) looked at life like a glass half full.

But this was before I got to read her harrowing testimony. Her true beginning. Avoiding spoilers, a few parts really stood out; her reaffirming social services work. Meeting and marrying Ryan. How she coped by reading biographies. And (WoW) that campaign Ad quote was a deal-sealer for me. "No, I wasn't in control. But God was." Beautiful… along with that tear-jerking all-bracing hug!

Overall, Melissa's unique testimony was easy to read, but very painful. Highly recommended reading. (read copyright 2017 hardback edition)
