Just Tyrus by Tyrus

Synopsis: Personal testimony of a WWE Wrestler and political commentator's rise to fame.

Writing Style: Undressed. Organized. Clear. Sounds Just Like Tyrus.

Pacing: Fast

Personal Highlights: Best title yet. Loved the pacing. While the clipped 'no big deal...nothing to see here' sentences came across brave, his hard knock (literally) beginnings were challenging to read.

I was really taken by his mentors; Incredible Hulk and J.J. Walker (on Good Times)!!! It is so true. Wrestling is a type of storytelling. I used to watch it like a soap opera when the Hulk was doing his thing... and actually was so into the sport that I went to see a live event!

Overall, Tyrus hungered for success. His quote: "Hard work was more rewarding and I slept much better." He definitely blows the trumpet for order and discipline, delineated throughout the telling of his story. But I, for some reason, was surprised by how tall he is. Also didn't know he worked for Snoop Dogg. And laughed out loud when I got to the part about him carrying 'Prince' on his hip! Another one of his appreciating quotes; "Find your passion and then do the work." Given this outlook was the impetus that helped him find his purpose I couldn’t have fallen harder for his story. Short, touching, direct, and humorous this memoir is a must. Loved it. Highly recommended. (read copyright 2022 print edition)
