You've Got to Laugh by Alison Hammond

Synopsis: First person testimony of popular British TV personality.

Writing Style:  Upbeat. Positive. Brit Lit.

Pacing: Moderate

Personal Highlights: I'm always looking for upbeat memoirs to read, which was how I found Alison's book. I took one look at the cover. Read the title. And bought it!

Early into the reading however, I did Google Alison, not realizing she was a British personality. So, it's true (according to comments mentioned in the book), her laugh is infectious, like the overall tone of her testimony. Nothing read over-the-top. She grew up in Birmingham (England), what prompted me to pause and look her up, before getting back to learning how she was raised in a nurturing environment by available parents (mother mostly), and extended family (also). Without giving away too many spoilers, she speaks of weight issues and a series of events that led her to venturing into a career lit with spotlights. As nondescript as this may sound, the way she tells this story was as entertaining as it was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed her unique handle on managing life's bumps and bruises. Glad to have found this one. Highly recommended.
