America Made Me A Black Man by Boyah J. Farah

Synopsis: The personal experiences of a young man born in Somalia and raised in part in Nugaal Valley (Somalia) and in part the New England region of the U.S.

Writing Style: Novelish. Passionate.

Pacing: FAST.

Personal Highlights: Most striking was the writing, which I enjoyed. Farah is a lover of words and it shows in the poetic way he retells his story, moving back and forth between his experiences living in Nugaal Valley (Somalia) and Boston (U.S.A). In Somalia he loves the land and in America he loves riding the highways. He's young, so his experiences are drawn around condensed areas within these territories (Somalia and New England), but insightful in terms of depth.
