Coming of Age in Mississippi by Anne Moody

Synopsis: The Autobiography of a Freedom Fighter

Writing Style: Straightforward 1st Person Traditional

Pacing: Smooth.

Personal Highlights: I couldn't get over how challenging, but easy a read this story was. It was hard to put the book down. There is much to take from Moody's feelings and lessons and sacrifices she (and others) made towards demanding basic human rights in Mississippi and beyond. She provides a detailed look inside her life, and a precise examination of racial opposition in the South. Most magnetic, in contrast to how music moved hearts and minds, was the ending in contrast to the 'Coming of Age in Mississippi' being first published in 1968. Highly recommended!
