Anchored in Bias by Lisa Benson

Synopsis: The personal account of a journalist getting fired after attempting to sue her employer

Writing Style: Passionate. No Frills.

Pacing: Fast.

Personal Highlights: Most interesting was how the repetitiveness in telling this story really served the overall credibility of the account. Anyone who’s ever worked for a company and seen people come in behind them, with less credentials and experience, but receive not only the sweet assignments… and promotions, but assignments and promotions you’ve been seeking for years, will understand Lisa’s disappointment and frustration.

After a decade of rejections Lisa decided to sue her employer, while still employed, at which point this narrative gets ‘real’ compelling. In short, ‘the white tears’ isn’t the only paradox that unfolds. Lisa’s admissions about journalism work itself surprised me, in a deeply personal way, winning my overall respect for her experience. This is a very good memoir. Highly recommended.
