Unapologetically Ambitious by Shellye Archambeau

Synopsis: A Woman’s Personal Account of Making CEO.

Writing Style: Commercial. Warm. Self Help.

Pacing: Fast.

Personal Highlights: This book was gifted to me by someone who recommended that I read Ms. Archambeau’s story.

From the start, the brief to the point ‘Forward’ pulled me in. I applaud the advice; control what we can, fake it til we make it, find cheerleaders, life isn’t fair. All conventional wisdom. “What’s important to you?” —Another strong reflection. “Define your success.” —Absolutely. And Network! Network! Network!  — Definitely recall that one. Page after page contains solid, very relevant, clear career advice, along with an engaging story to boot.

My favorite ‘moving’ parts was Ms. Archambeau’s mother…and the pie example. It also was interesting to note the type of family support the author received. And most impressive, what I really took to heart, is the premise behind the title; Choice versus Sacrifice. Admittedly, it did take reading the explanation…and the entire book... to really get it. Very well done. Highly recommended!
