My Vanishing Country by Bakari Sellers

Synopsis: The personal account of a political analysts' tribute to America’s forgotten rural working-class.

Writing Style: Genuine. Passionate.

Pacing: Fast.

Personal Highlights: Initially grabbing was Bakari’s early interest in civics, in part inspired by his father’s activism in the struggle for civil rights during the 60’s, 70’s, and in part stirred by what he was seeing happening around him. Aside from his father’s experiences, it was the 90’s he largely describes, what made his perspectives refreshing. While similar inequities for people of color were/are happening all over the country, and globe for that matter, his journey is unique… and quite engaging. One perspective that personally stood out, was his stance on Healthcare. He really honed in on that one. Two thumbs up!
