Synopsis: The personal reflections of an award-winning celebrity actress.

Writing Style: Personable, Direct.

Pacing: Fast

Personal Highlights: First of all, I love to be surprised by exceptional books. This memoir was no exception.

Most engaging was learning about Gabourey’s Senegalese heritage, and her visits to Africa. I, as well, loved her humorous perspectives, and writing. WoW! Dad’s humor hadn’t missed me either, and neither the family’s overall structure. In some way this dynamic had to contribute to Gabourey’s consistent outlook, ‘if only she could get the world to see her the way she saw herself.’ Man! That statement alone, throughout this tome, was not only beautiful. It is a powerful testimony!

Other humorous, and or touching spots; Them ‘almost’ tweets… being so honest about her feelings… what happened in Africa when she was small…the sex calls, particularly her talking to ‘deployed’ soldiers. Sigh…a tear drop and moment of silence here. And of course, last but not least was President Obama’s comment! Haha. He said it! On point! And she’s right, too. ‘Enuf said. Goodnight!’

I am so glad to have come across this honest, very humorous, and deeply touching and witty memoir. Highly recommended!!!
