Synopsis: The personal reflections of being adopted and raised in a foreign culture.
Writing Style: Literary, Descriptive, Warm.
Pacing: Moderate.
Personal Highlights: Easy on the eyes, and easier to curl up with, this memoir includes a little bit of everything. It is touching, suspenseful, informative, relevant, humorous in spots, and a little bit repetitive, though all around engaging. I highly respected Nicole’s point of view. Her perspectives are mature and level-headed. She does a fine job helping readers understand the purviews that can arise when adopting. Some adopted children are naturally drawn to wanting to know their biological nexus, which adoptive parents will want to prepare for this event. Of course too, if you truly love the child and want the best for them, this event can be handled with the finesse and sensitivity it deserves.

I as well found the writing descriptive. The adoptive parents, the biological parents, the beautiful step-mom, the siblings Cindy and Jessica, the spouse Dan and brother-in-law Rick, along with lawyers, the intermediary, the mid-wife…and oh my goodness, little Abby who I couldn’t get enough of… almost everyone…and everything (to include the historical view of Nicole’s native home) were written with such finesse that each still stand out in my mind. And the storytelling! The storytelling is off-the-charts gorgeous. Loved it! Anyone looking to adopt will get a lot out of this account. Highly recommended!
